SCANDINAVIAN DESIGN
Precise craftsmanship and ageless design have been cleverly combined in our timber cabins to create well insulated and attractive homes.
SPACIOUS LIVING
The interior room layout is both spacious an economical. A luxurious air space above the living area gives the cabin space and air to breathe. The second level above the kitchen and bathroom donates the cabin its comfortable maisonette-style character. This separate sleeping deck has its own window to guarantee a cosy and traditional sleeping experience.
- This building divided over two floors saves on building costs and offers almost 34 sqm of floor spaces on an area of just 24 sqm (HYTT model “A“).
EXCELLENT THERMAL INSULATION
-
Timber offers impressive thermal insulation due to its low conductivity.
An example: A solid 70 mm thick wooden wall has the same thermal insulation property as a 700 mm thick concrete wall. Another good reason to build with wood.
ENVIRONMENTTALLY SOUND
-
European timber is of the highest quality and protects New Zealnad´s timber reserves. Transporting an SCALOCAB HOMES overseas to Auckland consumes just as much energy as a truck ride from Queenstown to Auckland.
EASY TO BUILD: Do it yourself
-
The cabins are extremely easy to build and can be done by those with minimum DIY skills. This saves money an can be a lot of fun. One cabin can be finished in approx. two days depending on ability and speed.
NO BUILDING PERMISSION
-
SCALOCAB-HOMES have been designed as mobile buildings. The self-supporting construction of the modular slot-in design guarantees excellent torsional stiffness of the cabin. It is easy to transport on a solid, reinforced substructure and the house can be fully disassembled.
